Review this Gym
Surely this has to be the biggest rip off gym wise at the moment, over 60quid a month and what are you getting, dopey reception girls trying to sell you anything, managers who hide in their office when anything goes wrong, gym staff with the odd exception who dont do anything most of the time, the only decent ones there are the ones who do 1 or 2 days a week!!!!!,and as for the guy with the long hair, well he seems to be one of the few who knows his stuff Robberies every other week to which no one can do anything and members like Mark C who thinks that its ok for young lads to be selling cigarettes in changing rooms( you should be ashamed for not reporting it) and that an empty gym is a good gym, emm why do you think they are in financial trouble you numpty!!!! gym equipment thats donkeys years old and damaged AND I HAVENT EVEN MENTIONED THE FILTHY POOL, JACUZZI AND CHANGING ROOMS!!!!!!!!! THANK GOD IM WELL OUT OF THE KIP!!!!

This gym is definitely not the worst I've been in. In fact, due to the recession I'm sure, there is an ease of movement within the place - can access any of the machines without any delay whatsoever. I've been a member for a few years and attend regularly. In the past the place used to be mobbed and it was quite offputting. I heard a girl yesterday promote the gym saying that there is always machines available and that is a feature of the gym! Sorry, that is a feature of recession, nothing to do with Jackie Skelly's on the whole. I have had money and my shoes stolen on me in the changing rooms too, reckon you get shady characters anywhere though. I think it may have been the young lads that were selling cigarettes in the changing rooms that case the place! Overall though, I am happy with the gym, I can do my workout without distraction and in a good time too. I don't bring anything valuable into the gym and therefore don't run the risk of anything being stolen of significence. The staff don't bother me, the polish girl [maybe she isin't polish, sorry!] is lovely, really like the way she makes you feel very welcome but stop trying to hard sell proteins!!! The long haired dude get over yourself, thinks he's Gods gift!

Totally agree with most of the other comments that this facility is a disgrace ! It's filthy dirty,on my two visits which I was charged 20 euro a time I saw no staff other than the girl on reception. Smelt a rat when I spotted that most of the locker doors had been jimmied at some stage so brought my stuff into the gym with me. Spotted a few unsavoury characters wandering around the changing room "casing the joint" I've no doubt. No wonder this company is in serious financial trouble, no customer care what so ever.

I have to agree with John D. Skellys is pretty much a kip. They are the most prifiteering (sp?) gits I have ever come across. Talking about sharp practice and all that. AVOID if you want to stay infection free as you will cacth something there due to filth. Also a lot of theft there from a very unsavoury small group of its customers. YOur lock on your locker will not help - I know from experience. Be warned.

@ Darren - your review sounds like you work for J Skelly. I am a member and have been for some years because it is so close to work only. It dirty, poorly maintained (e.g. 1 stairmaster out of 6 working, about 20% of the audio outputs working on treadmills, showers disgusting, graffiti all over toilets, vile sauna, etc etc). It is expensive. Some of the staff are good. Most others are poorly motivated - consistant with the minimum wage they pay them I guess. Frankly I think it is a kip but as I say as it is so close to work it will do me till something better opens close by then I am a gonner.

This gym is obviously very handy for anyone working in Parkwest, but it is worth the trip for people living nearby too. A really nice, clean, well-run gym with plenty of space and a wide variety of machinery and different facilities. The steam room was a favourite of mine! I found the personal trainers particularly good here too, can't remember the name of the one I got assigned to me but she knew what she was talking about and was very friendly!
